San Marcos ChurchLocated in the north of the Malaga provence where it joins with the Cordoba province you will find one of Andalucia’s most picturesque towns. Nestled in the low brush, olive groves, pines, live oaks and almond trees and even the tranquil waters of the Iznájar reservoir, you will find the town of Cuevas de San Marcos

The town has a population of around 4000 and has some very striking attractions such as the

San Marcos church which dates from the 17th century and the Virgen del Carmen hermitage.which dates from the late 18thCentury

It also has some historical sites such as Cueva de Belda (Belda cave) . These caves date back to Prehistoric times and show evidence of many different civiliations such as Iberian ceramic relics, tools from the Bronze Age and Roman artifacts

You can also see an impressive menhir (standing stone) known as El Niño de Piedra (The Stone Child), You can also see the Medina de Belda archaeological site, There is also a very good Municipal Archaeological Museum located on C/Pablo Ruíz Picasso, .
