There are many great music festivals and concerts across Andalucia every year which cater for all music tastes from Opera to Hip Hop and from Pink Rock to Classical.
2008 is no exception and from the 24th to the 28th June lovers of Jazz are in for a treat as the beautiful Andalucian city of Marbella plays host to the 6th Marbella International Jazz Festival
The event will be held a various venues around the city including the historic district, the Convention Centre, the marina, Puerto Banús, Cabopino or Ricardo Soriano
It is split into different sections Jazz en la calle (Jazz In The Street), Jazz en el Palacio (Jazz In The Palace),Jazz a Bordo (Jazz On Board). a boat trip departing from the marina at 9 p.m., on 26, 27 and 28 June, with renowned musician René Toledo playing his guitar and finally Picnic Jazz, a great outdoor party on Saturday, 28th, to start at 7 in the afternoon at the Vigil de Quiñones Park, which has free admission where the Coastline Dixieland Band and Costa Big Band will provide the entertainment
The event has attracted some big names of the Jazz world including The Manhattan Transfer, and Tony Hadley, the former lead-singer of Spandau Ballet will be the main attraction of the section called ‘Jazz en el Palacio.’ held at the stunning Palacio de Congresos (Convention Centre) in Marbella.
If you love Jazz or even if you just want to hear some splendid music then this is an event that should not be missed
