Andalucia is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year with the stunning beaches of the coastal regions attracting the sun worshipers or the magnificent inland areas with their mountain rangers and forests attracting the nature lovers .
As we enter the winter months however the beach resorts start to wind down and the holiday’s makers start to look for other places to explore and events to attend.
Coming up in the next few weeks there are three events which are taking place which are well worth visiting.
The first takes place on between the 16th and 22nd of November when the inland village of Periana in the province of Malaga is hosting its annual Week of Culture
During the event the local people and visitors alike will be able to enjoy a host of events including concerts, folk shows, food samplings, and many other activities.
Two of the major events taken place during the celebrations are
A painting exhibition of the works of local artists and also during the week the winner of the 17th “Villa de Periana” National Writing Competition will be announced. This is a wonderful competition for short stories by writers younger than 30,
For more information on the event please contact the local Town Hall on (+34) 952 536 016 or visit official website http://www.periana.es/inicio.asp
One traditional fair that is a great place to visit is the Must Fair held in Atajate in the Serranía de Ronda in Malaga Province .
Must {Juices} is a very popular drink in Andaluca which is made with what remains of grapes after making wine (mainly the skin and seeds).
Both wine and must are closely linked to Mediterranean civilizations and are a major part of the culinary culture in many towns in Málaga Province
The fair in Atajate is been held on the 29th November {last Saturday or the month}during which hundreds of gallons of the best grape juice in the area will be served to wash down the delicious tapas.
Apart from the main event there will also be music to dance to and you should also explore the town with the Alto de la Santa Cruz where you can see the remains of an old watchtower and the parish church which is dedicated to the town’s patron saint, St Roque been two of the highlights of a tour of the town
.

Then in December you should head for the beautiful village of Cuevas de San Marcos which is in the Malaga Province nestled between the Genil river and the Camorro sierras.
The reason for a visit to this little Andalucian village is to see an example of how past traditions are been brought back to life in the present day
On the 7th December {the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception} every year the village holds its Bonfire Night
At dusk the streets are filled with fire as the bonfires burn bright and warm while the locals and visitors enjoy chorizo, bread and olive oil, and Christmas sweets while chatting to their friends and singing Christmas carols
The event is considered to many as a prelude to Christmas.
The event is a real family affair with everyone getting involved and many weeks before the children of the village work hard to gather the firewood to ensure that their bonfire burns longer than that of their neighbour
Every district of the town says theirs is the best
