Hundreds of tourists who flock to Marbella every year, take a trip to the Estadió Municipal, close to the centre of town, to watch Unión Deportiva Marbella play football in the second division B of the Spanish league.

Owned by British directors, Ian Radford and Wayne Elliott, this ambitious club has already signed Carl Cort from English Championship club, Leicester City, and is planning further raids for top players across Europe.

Most of the home games are played on Sunday afternoons, between 4.30 and 5pm, and there is no better way to while away a few hours with the family after a day on the beach, than with a trip to the football. Under 16´s are admitted free, and there are plenty of places around the stadium to eat and drink either before or after the match.

The crowd is usually made up of ex-pats, tourists and locals, and the matches are very much family occasions, often with live entertainment outside the stadium in the early evening.

Marbella FootballSimilar to the season in England, matches are played between August and May, with occasional cup games midweek in the evenings.
