Track Days SpainSpain’s leading trackday organiser, Trackdays Spain, will be holding their first weekend event on Saturday 31 January at Guadix race circuit, near Granada. Trackdays Spain has been organising events for nearly two years, but there hasn’t been availability for a coveted weekend slot until now. Finally, they can offer fast car enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of driving fast on a race track without taking a day off work.

Trackdays are a relatively new phenomenon in Spain, but they have been established in the UK for over eight years. They were developed for people who owned sports cars and enjoyed driving fast, but didn’t want the danger and expense of racing and the concept really hit a chord with car lovers all over the UK. Trackdays Spain brought these non-competitive, friendly and great value days to Spain for car enthusiasts here to enjoy.

This is not just an experience for rich young men in sports cars; anyone who loves cars will feel comfortable at a trackday. An average event will see men and women aged from 20 to 60, families bringing their kids along to watch. There’s also a range of cars; from supercars, to mid range sports cars or hot hatches like Golf GTI or Minis. What brings the group together is they all love to push their cars to the limit and in a friendly, safe, social environment.

Organiser and Instructor Andy Turnbull explains why trackdays are so safe. “Many people are concerned about their cars the first time they bring them along to a trackday. However, driving on track is actually much safer than driving on the roads! Race tracks are designed with safety in mind so there is loads of run off if any drivers do make a mistake. We also have strict rules for overtaking and insist on non-aggressive driving at all times. If we think someone is driving dangerously we will bring them in for a warning and then if they do it again they are going home. There has never been any car to car contact on the 300 plus trackdays I have organised and we intend to keep it that way!

A trackday is the perfect opportunity for car lovers to see exactly what their cars can do around a race track, meet like-minded people and admire beautiful cars. We hope that a weekend event will allow more people to enjoy these great days.”

For just 249 Euros drivers can bring their own car to Guadix for a whole day of adrenaline-fuelled driving on Saturday 31 January. The Trackdays Spain team is on hand to run through the rules of the day, offer instruction, make sure everyone is driving safely and making the most of the time on track. Helmets and gloves and even a Lotus Elise are available for hire, so any driver can enjoy the trackday experience even if they don’t have a fast car, or have never done a trackday before.
