Puerto Banus boasts many fabulous restaurants, but one of the new stars on the block is definitely the Lonestar Brasserie situated frontline to the Marina, with fabulous views of the boats. With a superb sister restaurant in Barbados, the Lonestar has a fantastic reputation in the Caribbean which has now been transported to the South of Spain.

The emphasis is placed on serving the freshest food in an original and delicious way, making this the place to be seen in Puerto Banus.

We last visited the Lonestar recently with friends from England, and they were enormously impressed not only with the food and service but also with the unbeatable waterside location. Choosing a terrace table to take full advantage of the views, we ordered a range of cocktails including a white lady, a strawberry daiquiri and, obviously, sex on the beach for my husband!

There was no rush to order, which suits us as we like to relax with a drink before our food, and the restaurant serves food at lunchtimes between 12 noon and 5pm and dinner from 7-12 midnight.

Eventually we ordered a selection of sumptuous dishes including – chicken liver and pistachio bruleé with fig compote, seared oriental loin of tuna with a warm salad of stir fry vegetables, lonestar wrap with guacamole, chicken, avocado and light garlic mayonnaise and pan fried fillet of salmon with spinach and vermouth sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.

We followed this with two desserts between us – the home made crème brulée and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream.
