There are a number of great musical events held in Andalucia every year featuring a wide range of performers from rap artists to opera singers. There are a whole host of great venues right across the whole region hosting both one night performances to excellent music festivals.
One such festival, now in its fourth year is the fabulous Territorios Sevilla music festival which is to be held in the Andalucian Capitol City Seville in the months of May and June.
The event which grows each year will again see artists from around the world converge on the splendid city to perform concerts over an number of days at the beautiful The Monasterio de la Cartuja which is home to the the Contemporary Andalusian Art Center where a number of stages will be available to the concert goers.
VENUE
The Monasterio de la Cartuja (The Carthusian Monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas) was built in the fifteenth century and has a wonderful history. It was home the monks until 1810 when the invading French troops took control of the building and used it as a barracks. Another famous inhabitant of the building was the explorer Christopher Columbus who lived there for a number of years
Then in 1839 the monastery which had been left in a horrendous state after been abandoned was taken over by a merchant Charles Pickman who turned the building into a pottery and porcelain factory in 1841. The Furnaces and chimneys that were built added to the charm of the building and even today five still remain. The factory remained active until 1982.
Nowadays it is a wonderful venue for events such as the Territorios Sevilla music festival.
It is located on the right bank of the river Guadalquivir located on the island of La Cartuja.
