There are many reasons why a trip to Marbella should be on your list of places to visit in Andalucia, from its famous beaches to its outstanding nightlife this popular city located on the Costa del Sol has something to offer everyone.
A trip is a must but when a good time to visit; well the truth is is it is an all round tourist destination where you will always find something to do…
One of the best times to visit is during the Annual St Bernabé Festival and Fair that takes place in June.
On the 8th June the skies will be lit up with fireworks and the smell of free ‘churros’ (fried strips of dough) will fill the air. This is the prelude to St Bernabé’s Procession, the starting point of a week long celebration which should not to be missed.
The 9th June sees more fireworks, the lighting up of the local fairground and the official opening speech.
10th June You can enjoy music, dance, ringing bells and yet more fireworks.
The Tenth is also the day that the Day Fair officially opens. The day fair can be found at the Parque de la Represa.
The 11th June sees one of the highlights of the week where visitors and locals alike can see the traditional procession carrying the saint though the streets of the city. Head for the Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación Parish Church is you want to follow this procession from its starting point
On Wednesday 11, the peak of the week: the traditional procession carrying the saint along the streets. Its starting point will be Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación Parish Church which is located in Plaza de la Iglesia (off Orange Square), so head for there if you want to follow the procession around its route.
The week continues with a mix of shows, events, good food and late night celebrations. There are events for the whole family including a concert by the popular Spanish singer Sergio Contreras, whose fusion music is all the rage. A Children’s Party which features shows by different dance schools on the 12th
A party for the Elderly on the 13th
Then on Saturday 14th there will be the Cuarentunas Serenade to Queens and Young Ladies
The St Bernabe’s Festival closes on 15 June with a bullfighting event that is awaiting confirmation.

Just one word of warning if you want to sleep pick another destination to stay as the nights during the festival are filled with very loud passionate Spanish people enjoying themselves along with the many thousands of tourists who visit Marbella to enjoy this event
