Andalucia is one of the most popular destination for holiday makers in the world, and while many of the thousands of visitors that arrive each year come for the regions stunning beaches, bustling nightlife and of course the Golf, others come for a much more relaxing and peaceful pastime, they come to fish.
Andalucia offers anglers a huge range of options to partake in their activity. The region has some stunning coastline and as the sun goes down and the sun worshipers have retired to the comfort of one of the areas many bars and restaurants the anglers are heading for the shoreline for a night of fishing.
There are also a host of companies based in the regions marinas like Duquesa, Estepona, Fuengirola, Marbella and Benalmadena which offer anglers the chance to charter a boat and head out into the Sea to fish for all sorts of fish including swordfish, tuna, bass, bream and even shark
Between July and September of the coasts of Almería,Granada and Málaga provinces you will find swordfish and tunny are found in abundance during the summer months especially off the coast at Barbate and Conil
For the more serious angler visiting the area there are many fishing competitions and you can find details of these competitions at any of the local marinas and the World Coast Fishing Championships are held each summer in the Almerian town of Adra
In Andalucia you must have a licence to fish either from the shore or a boat and these can be obtained from the offices of the “Delegación Provincial de la Conserjeria de Agricultura y Pesca” of which there is an office in all provincial capital cities

The Boat charter companies are very helpful if you encounter any difficulties in obtaining your Sea fishing licence. The licence that you obtain will also allow you to fish in other regions of Spain.
If Sea fishing is not your thing then don’t dispair as Andalucia has a huge selection of rivers and lakes spread right across the region including the reservoirs in Alcornocales National Park and around Grazelema where you will be able to fish for such as pike, black bass, barbel and carp and in the the Nature Parks of Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas and the Sierra Nevada there are around 64 fishing reserves.
Also in the Charco Redonda just off the new road to Jerez, youb will find a very popular location with anglers and in the National Park of Los Alcornocales you will find Celemin where there is a super “zona recreativa” at which you can camp for a few days, free of charge, and fish all day
If Trout fishing is what you are looking for then one of the best locations can be found between Malaga and Granada in the foothills of the Sierra de Loja where the Rip Frio has been a excellent location with records of trout going back as far as 1664. You can fish at this location all year round.
This type of fishing also requires a licence which can be obtained from the “Delegación Agencia Medio Ambiente” (AMA) and their offices are to be found in each of the provincial capital cities and it is also possible to obtain an angling licence from branches of the Caja Mar
