IstanVisitors to Marbella and Puerto Banus are spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants, and for those who like to venture a little further inland, the Restaurante Entresierras in Istán is one of the best.

After a gentle walk around the narrow streets of this pretty white town, perched at the head of the valley of Rio Verde and beneath La Concha you can relax on the terrace of this fabulous restaurant, while enjoying the stunning mountain views.

The first thing to hit you is the friendly welcome here and the staff are more than happy to serve you drinks at the bar or on the beautiful terrace area whilst you ponder over the extensive menu.

A large interior restaurant is ideal for the cooler months, and you only need to pass by on a Sunday to realise just how popular this eaterie is. Locals and tourists alike often queue for tables, and booking is highly recommended.

Last time we visited we ordered a Mixed House Salad to share – and this is no ordinary salad! Along came a gorgeous deep bowl full of mixed leaves, ham, asparagus, egg, cherry tomatoes and smoked cheese with a honey and mustard dressing which was the best I have ever tasted.

Our favourite main dish here is the Argentinian Beef, served on a wooden board and cooked to your liking. Special fresh herbs and spices are added to the meat shortly before grilling which creates a delicious flavour. This really is melt in the mouth steak at its best.

There is also a wide range of dishes for the non-meat eaters including Fresh Sole Meuniere, Fried Boquerones, Squid a la Romana and a variety of Egg and Vegetable Dishes.

Super desserts include Home Made Argentinian Chocolate Cake with Whipped Cream (a must for the chocolate lovers), Crépes with a variety of fruit and ice cream fillings, Apple Tart and Profiteroles.

The service is slick and friendly, without being obtrusive, and the prices are great – usually averaging around 15-20 Euros per head including wine and drinks.

Booking is Recommended and the phone number is +34 670 280 194.
