Andalucia is famous for many things from its fabulous beaches to its beautiful and historical towns and cities

One of the most spectacular of these cities is the stunning Andalucian Capitol City Seville. It is one of the most visited cities in Spain and is famous around the world for many reasons which include its spring fair and its fabulous culture

Each year Seville plays host to many art shows and stage productions which attract visitors from both here in Andalucia and further afield

One such event is been held at the Andalucían Centre of Contemporary Art (CAAC) which is located in the city.

The Andalucían Centre of Contemporary Art (CAAC) is located in a beautiful old monastery and is well worth a visit at any time of the year where you will be able to enjoy its permanent collections as well as offering workshops, seminars and concerts.

The centre also displays temporary exhibitions and between the 27 Jan – 22 Mar 2009 there will be a wonderful exhibition from the American artist and activist Nancy Spero.

She is well known for her impassioned paintings based on feminist themes and has enjoyed a career which has spanned five decades and the centre is showcasing some of her most significant pieces career in a retrospective titled Dissidances

One of the highlights of the exhibition is some of her early works from when she attended the Art Institute of Chicago

You will be able to see a good selection of works from  Spero’s early student days to the recent Maypole 2007, which she presented at the Venice Biennial.
