For A Great Family day out you should head to Mijas Village on the Costa Del Sol which located about 5km up the mountain from Fuengirola.

MijasEvery year in either May or June this beautiful white washed Andalucian village they celebrate an international day which features a feast of over 30 different nationalities show their respective country’s typical food and drink combined with exhibition of typical handicrafts, national costumes etc.

This year the XVIV International Day is celebrated on the 9th June where visitors can enjoy a host of events.

There will be five stages showing ethnical and folklore performances,. Live music, parades and lots more.

You can see multicultural street parades in which all the participating countries show off their national costumes

This year there will be Interactive performances where the idea is that the public not only enjoy watching the performance but also join in, providing a fun way to get toWhitewashed Village Of Mijas know the culture and folklore of different countries.

Some of the workshops are Portuguese and Swedish dancing. Percussion from Senegal, Chinese Tai Chi, Salsa classes, USA line dancing and Brazilian Capoeira

Around the main square in the village 29 stands will be set up which will be offering free workshops throughout the day.The will also offer the best of beverage and cuisine at a symbolic price of 1 euro

Next to the Mijas Tourist Office you will find plenty of entertainment for the children and teenagers in a special area with all types of intercultural activities and workshops. There will be a professional team of entertainers on hand who will be organising all the activities, competitions and workshops from 12 noon to 16.

And for the little visitors there is going to be two bouncing castles

Also this year the Mijas International Day competition will be held in all the Schools in the municipality. Children from the 5th and 6th primary school will be able to take part with drawings related to the subjects of peace, living together and integration. All the children taking part will a receive a present and the winners will receive a prize and a diploma which will be presented at 1 pm during the International Day.

The best way to travel to Mijas from the coast is by bus or taxi. The bus from Fuengirola takes about 15-20 minutes and costs 1.05€ or you can take a taxi which will cost approx 15€.
