The Marbella Golf and Country Club is situated just a few kilometres east of the fashionable holiday resort of Marbella. It is quite often confused with the Marbella Club Golf Resort, which is located to the west of Marbella. The course has an imaginative layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones, and provides a challenge for both amateurs and professionals. Marbella Golf complements the natural environment, with numerous lakes, pine trees and cork oaks helping to make this a very attractive course. There are also fine views over the Mediterranean Sea, especially from the tee at the 12th hole.

Marbella Golf has wide fairways and large greens, with plenty of bunkers and water hazards to negotiate. There are several little gullies and ravines that you must cross on the first few holes of the course, so accurate tee shots are needed here. This is particularly so at the picturesque 3rd (par 4), which has an elevated tee, and the 4th (par 3). The latter does not have a fairway so you need to hit the ball hard if you want to clear the ravine. One of the most spectacular holes is the 6th (par 5). Aim you tee shot to the plateau on the right - from here you have a clear view of the green. The second shot is quite tricky due to a stream which crosses the fairway twice, while the green is protected at the front by a lake.

The holes get a little easier on the back nine as the course opens out and becomes a lot flatter, although lakes are more of a problem on this section. However, one of the most difficult holes at Marbella Golf is the 11th (par 4), which has a sharp dogleg to the right and some steep slopes. The final hole has a fairway rising gently towards an undulating green, which is well-protected by bunkers.

Facilities
Marbella Golf has a clubhouse surrounded by some attractive gardens. Facilities include a driving range, golf school, putting green and a large pro shop. There is also an excellent restaurant with a terrace overlooking the 18th hole.

How to get to Marbella Golf
Marbella Golf is situated about 6km (4 miles) east of Marbella. Exit the N340 coast road at km 188 next to the Costa del Sol Hospital.
