Marbella Mayoress Ángeles Muñoz has highlighted that with this renovation of the municipal fleet both employees’ working conditions and quality of the service rendered to citizens will be improved

Marbella, May 27th 2008.- Municipal Cleansing Department has renovated the City’s cleansing fleet with 17 new trucks. Mayoress Muñoz, Councillor Antonio Espada and San Pedro Alcántara’s Deputy Mayor Miguel Troyano have presented today the new vehicles.

Muñoz has explained that the amount destined by the City Council for the purchase of these new trucks totals 3 million euros and means an improvement for “both employees’ working conditions and quality of the service rendered to citizens”.

Ángeles Muñoz has declared that “we have fulfilled one of our main electoral compromises, and in less than a year after having taken up municipal government”. She has also highlighted that the City Council is progressing towards the modernisation of public services.

The new fleet is made up of three soundproofed washing down vehicles with 8.000 litres capacity, an auxiliary one with 2.500 litres capacity and seven dustcarts with a range of capacities going from 9 to 23 m3. At the beginning of June another washing down vehicle and a street sweeper will also be incorporated to the fleet, and in September two other dustcarts will arrive.

The renovation of the fleet is completed by the purchase of 300 additional trash containers, 25 stainless steel cleaning carts and nine leaf-blowing machines.

All these improvements carried out in the City Cleansing Department respond to the local government’s compromise to pay a special attention to this area, “which is one of the city’s greatest assets”.

In this respect, Antonio Espada has highlighted that the fleet’s reinforcement will bring an important improvement in all the municipality and has also stated that he counts on the collaboration of both workers and citizens in order to obtain the maximum results for this investment.
