Los Flamingos Golf is one of the most exciting golf developments in Spain. Currently the complex has two 18-hole courses with another couple in the pipeline. Once these are completed, Los Flamingos will become the largest golf resort in Europe.

Flamingos Golf Course. 18 holes, Par 71
This highly attractive course, which opened in 2001, was designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido. It has, rather unusually, been created in the style of an Italian garden, complete with Roman columns and statues. The course is characterised by the beauty of its natural surroundings with the many different types of tree, including pines, chestnuts, olives and cypresses, helping to give it a mature feel despite its newness. Flowing through the course is the Arroyo del Taraje stream which comes into play on several holes, and there are also a couple of lakes. The greens are generally quite large and well protected by bunkers, while the fairways are tight, particularly on the front nine. Several tees are elevated and offer great views of the Mediterranean with Gibraltar in the distance.

The course’s signature hole is widely considered to be the 10th, with its large undulating green protected by bunkers.

Flamingos Golf is a technically challenging course which has hosted several important tournaments, including the Senior PGA Matchplay Championship.

Flamingos Executive Golf. 18 holes, Par 65
This short course is situated next to the golf academy and is ideal for players with a high handicap. It was originally a nine-hole par-3 course but a further 9 holes have since been added.

Gran Flamingo Golf. 18 holes, Par 73
When it opens this autumn, Gran Flamingo will be one of the longest and most challenging golf courses on the Costa del Sol. Visitors have already been testing out the first 10 holes and, so far, their feedback has been very positive. There are four lakes within the course and the greens are large, in contrast to the much tougher fairways.

Flamingo Norte. 18 holes, Par 72
This course is due to open in 2007/8.

Facilities
Los Flamingos has a golf academy, driving range, putting green and the La Cantina café-bar from which there are lovely views over the course. The complex is also home to the five-star Villa Padierna Hotel.

How to find Los Flamingos
The Los Flamingos complex is situated between Marbella and Estepona on the northern side of the N340 coast road.
