There are so many reasons to visit Andalucia, from the fantastic beaches to the magnificent mountain areas. People from all over the world flock to this part of Spain for a number of reasons which include the annual holiday for the family to businessmen attending the many conferences and trade fairs that are held right across the region

Another of the main reasons people visit Andalucia are the numerous sporting events that take place every year and this year one of the world’s most famous sporting events is coming to Andalucia

The Davis Cup quarter-final between the Spanish and German teams which takes place in July will be played at the Plaza de Toros (bullring) in Puerto Banus following the decision by the Spanish Tennis Federation (Real Federacion Española de Tenis)   to approve the application made by Marbella Town Hall
The news comes at the best time for Marbella, as the town tries to rebuild its image and increase the amount of tourists visiting the area after the bad publicity caused by the corruption scandals that have plagued the town.

The event will take place between the 10th and 12th of July 2009
Marbella’s Tourism Department will finance half of the two million Euros it will cost to bring the event to Marbella but the effect that the increased tourism the event will bring will most certainly outweigh the cost.
The event is a repeat of the 2008 quarterfinal, which Spain won on their way to becoming champions.
It will be the 15th meeting between the two nations, and even though Germany leads the head-to-head series 9-5, Spain has won 3 of their last 4 meetings.

As defending champion, Spain is looking to win its 6th tie in a row. It has won its last 15 home ties, dating back to 1999.

Germany is in the quarterfinals for the 3rd straight year and is looking to reach the semifinals for the 2nd time in 3 years, having done so in 2007.
