In Andalucia there are many fairs and fiestas from the small one day food fairs to the large lavish city fairs like the April fair in Seville or the Malaga fair.

The Andalucian people like to celebrate for all sorts of reasons, whether it is a religious event like Holy week or a celebration like the Jerez Horse fair.

The month of April sees a fair which has a cultural theme when the inland town of Alhaurin del la Torre in the province of Malaga hosts a month long book fair

The fair began on the 3rd April and will run though till the 29th April.

During the fair there will be a host of activities for book lovers including poetry readings , lectures and book signings

Some of the highlights of the event include on the 9th April there will be the presentation of ‘Cuaderno de Roma,’ a book of poems by Antonio Quesada.

The 11th of the month sees the opening of the 2nd Street Book Fair , the main event of the celebrations which runs until the 27th

16 April There will be a lecture by librarian Salvador García on the life and work of Juan Ramón Jiménez

17th April A presentation of ‘La II República en Málaga,’ by José Velasco Gómez

18th April. An exhibition at Manuel Altolaguirre Andalusian Literary Centre opens

Also on the 18th there will be a presentation of ‘Bódrom,’ a book by Miguel Ángel Granda.

The events will be held at different events around the town including The Vicente Aleixandre Cultural Centre, the Alhaurín Town Library, the Santa Ana square

Apart from these highlighted events there will be theatre performances, , meetings with writers, and a host of literary award galas.
