Andujar is a town located in the province of Jaen in Andalucia. The town that dates back to the prehistoric times. In the area around Arroyo Escobar there has been the discovery of various artiacs which date back around 300,00 years.
There is also a lot of evidence dateing back to the time of the Phoenician and Greek settlers but it is really from the time of the Roman settlers when the town really began to grow and there have been many important finds of Roman artifacts such as gold, silver and bronze, amphorae, lamps, marble statues, mosaics, and tombstones with Latin inscriptions.
One of the best examples of the Roman influence is the stone bridge over the Guadalquivir River which has clear Roman influence although most of the bridge now was built in the 16th and 17th centuries and there was also a major reform of the bridge in the mid-nineteenth century
The town itself is probably best known for its its olive oil and its pottery and of course stunning senery that surrounds the town including the Nature Reserve of Sierra de Andujar which is one of the most beautiful examples of the beautiful Andalucian countryside.

In the town there are also many magnificent examples of architecture including
The church of Santa María which contains some fantastic paintings from the artist El Greco,
The church of San Miguel This church has a magnificent coffered ceiling
San Bartolomé Church which is a excellent example of Gothic style
The town hall and the Palace of Justice are also worth while visiting.
There is a great selection of bars and clubs around the city and there is also a cinema which is located in Europa Park
The town itself is a great base for exploring the stunning scenery and there is really something for everyone in and around the town
For the more adventurous of you there is a place near to the town which is worth visiting
Expedia is located to the north of the town and offers such activities as Paintballing, Mountain Biking, Horse Riding, 4X4 and much more. There are also activities for the younger members of the family .
The main activity of paint balling is very reasonably priced at just 20€ per person and this includes all the safety equipment and 100 paint balls with 100 additional paint balls costing just 6€

1Andujar is a lovely town to explore with very few tourists, a great place to practice your Spanish.
