Tour of Andalucia: Cycling Tour of the Sun
The roads of Andalucia will be filled with a mass of bikes between the 17th and 21st of February as the region plays host to the 54th Tour of Andalusia: Cycling Tour of the Sun {’Vuelta a Andalusia - Ruta Ciclista del Sol}
This is a major event in the cycling calender and is a great event for both the competators and spectators alike. It is an event that attracts some of the top names like in international cycling like Alessandro Petacchi, Cadel Evans and Denis Menchov and several of the top international racing teams have confirmed that they will be taking part in the event
The event is broken into 5 stages {Etapas}
Stage 1 runs from Benahavís to Álora starting from La Moraleda avenue heading out though Estepona, Marbella, Ojén,Monda, Guaro, Alozaina, and Pizarra and finally ending in the inland town of Alora
Stage 2 runs from Torrox Costa to La Zubia in Granada and traveling thought the mountains via Competa,Aechez, Salares, Alhama de Granada ,and La Zubia
Stage 3 runs from Otura - Jaen going though Ogijares, Fonelas, Guadahortuna, Peglorjar and Jaen
Stage 4 runs from La Guardia de Jaen - Ecija going though Montillo , Montalbion and Ecija
Stage 5 runs from Antequera - Cordoba traveling though Cuevas de San Marcos, Lucena and Cordoba
Racing starts at 10am Daily and there are also selected sprtints during the stages

Big winners of the Tour of Andalusia include great Cantabrian rider Óscar Freire.
